Signal too high

Checking the signal from the switch in the tailgate/trunk lid




- Ignition on
- Read off the status from the switch in tailgate/trunk lid (indicates whether the tailgate/trunk lid is open or closed).
Open and close the trunk lid / tailgate. The status should change when the tailgate/trunk lid is opened/closed.
The fault is permanent if the status does not change.
If the status changes, this indicates an intermittent fault, i.e. the fault was present previously but is not active at the moment.

Checking cable and component
Check the signal cable between rear electronic module (REM) connector terminal #42 (#F2) and terminal #1 on the lock mechanism connector. Check for a short-circuit to supply voltage. Check for an open-circuit.
Remedy as necessary.
