Engine Speed Sensor: Service and Repair



Engine Speed (RPM) Sensor, Replacing

NOTE: The illustrations in this service information are used for different model years and/or models. Some variation may occur. However, the essential information in the illustrations is always correct.

Preparatory work

Removing components
Remove the air cleaner (ACL) module.

Removing the intake manifold for the turbocharger (TC)

Remove:







- the screws (1) for the intake manifold
- the hose clamp at the junction to the rubber hose for the turbocharger (TC)
- the EVAP canister hose (2) from the intake manifold
- the brake vacuum hose from the intake manifold. Lift out the pipe.

Removing the engine speed (RPM) sensor







Remove the nut for the engine speed (RPM) sensor. Hold the radiator hose above the engine speed (RPM) sensor to one side.
Disconnect the engine speed (RPM) sensor connector. Lift up the sensor.

Installing the engine speed (RPM) sensor

Install:







- the engine speed (RPM) sensor

HINT: Use a magnetic socket or similar new nut.

Connect the connector to the engine speed RPM) sensor.

Installing components
Install the air cleaner (ACL) module.

Installing the intake manifold for the turbocharger (TC)

Install:
- the intake manifold
- the brake vacuum hose to the intake manifold. Use a new clamp
- the EVAP canister hose to the intake manifold
- the screws for the intake manifold. Tighten
- the hose clamps. Tighten.

Finishing

Checks
Start the engine and check the function.
