Wiper Motor: Service and Repair



Wiper Motor Front

NOTE: The illustrations in this service information are used for different model years and/or models. Some variation may occur. However, the essential information in the illustrations is always correct.

Preparatory work

Restoring motor





Set the motor in parking position.

Turn on the windshield wipers and turn them off again, with the ignition on. When the motor reaches parking position, turn off the ignition and remove the key.

Removal

Removing motor
Remove the wiper mechanism according to: Wiper mechanism, windshield.

Loosen the link arm from the ball using a screwdriver. Bend straight up.

NOTE: Measure the distance between arm and end-stop according to the illustration. Note the distance, approx. 3.5 mm.

Remove:





- the nut
- the lever, bend with a screwdriver.

Remove:
- the screws, 3 pcs. M6 for the motor
- the motor.

Installation

Installing motor
Fit the connector on the motor.

Set the motor in parking position.
Turn on the windshield wipers and turn them off again, with the ignition on. When the motor reaches parking position, turn off the ignition and remove the key.

Remove the connector.

Install:
- the motor
- the 3 M6 screws. Tighten
- the lever
- the nut, measure out the distance according to note when removing. Tighten according to: Tightening torque.

NOTE: The motor may rotate when tightening the nut. Check that the arm does not move on the shaft.

Press the link arm into place.

Fit the wiper mechanism according to: Wiper mechanism, windshield.

Finishing

Function test
Check function.
