The starter motor cannot function correctly if there is a fault with the control solenoid, the carbon brushes or starter motor.

Possible source
- Damaged terminal.
- Damaged control solenoid.
- Worn carbon brushes or brush springs
- Damaged starter motor.

Fault symptom[s]
- The starter motor does not turn.
