Airbag Passenger (SRS), Disconnecting

Preparatory work
Important information
CAUTION: This method only applies to vehicles without a switch for the passenger side airbag (SRS).
NOTE:
- Local laws and/or regulations may not permit the disconnection of the passenger airbag (SRS). Please check the information issued by your National sales company/distributor/importer for details.

Disconnecting the battery lead
Slide the seat forward as far as possible. Move the backrest to the upright position.
WARNING: The battery must be disconnected when disconnecting the passenger airbag (SRS).
Ignition off.
Disconnect the battery negative cable. See: Battery, disconnecting.
Disconnection
Replacing the front seatbelts
WARNING: The removed seat belt contains a pyrotechnic SRS component that must be properly disposed of according to local laws and/or regulations. See: Discarding pyrotechnic components.
Remove the seatbelt for the front passenger position. See: Front safety belt retractor.
WARNING: When disconnecting the passenger airbag (SRS), the front passenger seat belt must always be replaced with a seat belt of a different specification ("without airbag"). See VIDA Spare part information.
Install a new front seatbelt ("without airbag"). See the link above.
Exposing the passenger side airbag (SRS)
Vehicles with manually operated front seats:
Move the seat as far backwards as possible.
Remove the glove compartment. See: Glove compartment.
Vehicles with power front seats:
Reconnect the battery negative lead. See: Battery, disconnecting.
Move the seat as far backwards as possible.
Remove the glove compartment. See: Glove compartment.
Disconnect battery negative lead see the link above.
Disconnecting the passenger side airbag (SRS)
Remove:
- the connector for the SRS ignition cable on the right hand side
- the connector for the SRS ignition cable on the left hand side.
Position the two SRS ignition cables and secure using two tie straps.
Bend up the two SRS ignition cables. Secure to the cable above. Use two tie straps.
Insulate the three cables. Use foam tape.
Installing glove compartment
Install the glove compartment. See: Glove compartment.
Installing the decal for the disconnected passenger airbag (SRS)
Install the decal in the relevant language on the right-hand side of the dashboard. The decal must be centered and parallel 5 mm below the existing embossing on the dashboard.
NOTE:
- Clean the surface for the decal. Use an appropriate cleaning agent and paper.
- The decals on the side of the dashboard facing towards the driver's door must be left in place.
Finishing
Ordering and downloading software
Ignition on.
Fit the battery's negative cable in accordance with: Battery, disconnecting.
Order software for disconnecting the airbag. See: 30724004.
Final check
Carry out an inspection as described in Supplementary restraint system (SRS), inspection.
Note in the Service and warranty book
When disconnection is complete, write the following text on a blank page at the back of the Service and warranty book:
"The passenger airbag in this vehicle has been disconnected at the request of the owner." , or refer to the information issued by your National sales company/distributor/importer.
Date XX-XX-XX (year-month-day).
Odometer reading XXXXXX."
The workshop manager responsible must verify the entry with a signature and service stamp.
Vehicle owner's approval

The workshop manager responsible must sign the relevant section of the form.
1. Keep the original at the workshop
2. Give a copy to the vehicle owner
3. Send a copy to your National sales company/distributor/importer as instructed in the information package.
