Removal

Removing components

Applies to vehicles with all-wheel drive (AWD)
Remove the bevel gear.
Remove the screw for the heat deflector plate over the turbocharger (TC). Slacken off the screw behind the intake hose a few turns.
Disconnect the connector for the front heated oxygen sensor (HO2S). Disconnect the cable harness from the clips and clamps. Lower the cable harness below the vehicle. Raise the vehicle.

Remove the lower engine cover.
Disconnect the connector for the rear heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) over the sub-frame. Disconnect the cable harness from the SIPS member. Slacken off the left-hand screw for the SIPS member a few turns.

Remove:
- the right-hand screw and the plastic nut for the SIPS member. Move the SIPS member to one side
- the nuts at the junction between the three-way catalytic converter (TWC) and the exhaust system. Remove the three-way catalytic converter (TWC) from the rubber mountings.

Removing the three-way catalytic converter (TWC)

Hint: Use rust solvent or similar.

Remove the nuts at the junction between the turbocharger (TC) and the three-way catalytic converter (TWC). Discard the nuts. Lift down the three-way catalytic converter (TWC). Discard the gaskets.

Installation

Note! For tightening torques, see Specifications. Tightening Torque.

Note! To ensure that there is no exhaust leakage, see: Flanged joint, assembling. Service and Repair

Installing the three-way catalytic converter (TWC)

Install:
- the three-way catalytic converter (TWC). Use new gaskets
- the nuts at the junction between the three-way catalytic converter (TWC) and the exhaust system. Tighten
- the SIPS member. Tighten the screws. Connect the connector for the rear heated oxygen sensor (HO2S). Secure the wiring in the SIPS member. Hang the three-way catalytic converter (TWC) on the rubber mountings.

Installing components

Install the new nuts at the junction between the exhaust manifold and the three-way catalytic converter (TWC). Tighten. Lift the cable harness for the front heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) up to the engine compartment

Applies to vehicles with all-wheel drive (AWD)
Install the bevel gear.
Install the lower engine splash guard.
Lower the vehicle.

Finishing
Install the screws for the heat deflector plate. Tighten.
Connect the cable harness to the front heated oxygen sensor (HO2S). Secure the cable harness in the clips and clamps.
