Preparatory work
Draining coolant
Raise the vehicle. Remove the splash guard under the engine.
Install a hose on the drain nipple and open the nipple, and drain the coolant in a container.
Close the nipple and remove the hose. Install the protective cover under the engine. Lower the vehicle.
Removal
Removing the timing belt
Remove the timing belt. See:
Removing the coolant pump
Note! Wipe up the coolant under the coolant pump with paper.
Hint: Raise the engine with a lifting beam to access the two upper screws, then lower the engine to access the remaining bolts from underneath.
Remove the screws for the coolant pump.
Carefully tap the pump rotor with a plastic mallet and remove the pump.
Installation
Note! For tightening torques, see Specifications. Tightening Torque
Installing the coolant pump
Install:
- new gasket
- new pump. Tighten the screws crosswise. Tighten.
Installing the timing belt
Install the timing belt.
Finishing
Checks
Refill drained coolant. Start the engine and warm up until the thermostat opens.
Check for leakage.
Top up with coolant. Use filling equipment:
