Removal
Draining oil

Warning: Hot oil can scald. Avoid skin contact with engine oil, particularly if the engine oil is dirty. Immediately wash hands and any skin that has been in contact with oil. Use a suitable cleaning agent and warm water. Wear protective gloves when working with engine oil.

Hint: It is possible to draw the engine oil out through the dip stick pipe, if required. Follow the instructions from the supplier.

Remove:
- the oil filler cap. Raise the vehicle and fetch a container
- the lower splash guard. Position the container under the engine oil trough
- the oil plug.
Drain the engine oil. It is easier to drain the oil if the engine is at operating temperature. Reinstall the oil plug again. Always use a new sealing washer. Tighten the plug. Install the lower cover. Lower the vehicle.

Removing components
Remove:

- the screws for the intake manifold between the front cover plate and the air cleaner (ACL) module
- the intake manifold.

For vehicles without a turbocharger (TC)
Remove the resonator from the air cleaner (ACL) module.

Removing the oil filter
Remove:
- the oil filter housing cover together with the filter insert
- the filter insert from the housing

- O-ring Allow the filter insert to drain and then discard it in an approved place.

Installation
Installing the oil filter

Clean the housing. Install a new O-ring. Lubricate the O-ring. Install a new filter insert in the cover of the oil filter housing. Screw the filter housing and filter into place. Tighten to specification.

Installing components
For vehicles without a turbocharger (TC)

Install the resonator for the air cleaner (ACL) module.

For other vehicles
Install:
- the intake manifold between the air cleaner (ACL) module and the front cover plate
- the screws for the intake manifold. Tighten.

Finishing

Filling with engine oil

Top up oil using apppropriate oil type and amount.

Caution: It is very important that the correct oil specification of the correct viscosity is used, in order to achieve optimal fuel consumption and engine protection.

Checks
Check the level using the dip stick. Start the engine and check for oil leakage. Stop the engine and let the oil run down into the oil sump.

Caution: Top up to maximum on the dip stick if necessary but do not overfill.

Then check the oil level.
