Brake pedal, replacing

Note: The illustrations in this service information are used for different model years and/or models. Some variation may occur. However, the essential information in the illustrations is always correct.

Preparatory work
Remove the following items:
- Steering column
- Accelerator pedal

Note: It is no longer necessary to remove the dashboard when replacing the brake pedal box.

Removal
Removing the brake pedal
Remove:





- the connector (1)
- the connector (2).
Cut off the tie straps for the cable harness.

Remove:
- the 5 nuts (3)
- the 1 screw (4)
- the brake pedal together with the accelerator pedal (AP).





Remove the pin for the power brake booster.

Note: The pin cannot be separated entirely. It must be replaced with a new pin on installation.

Removing the accelerator pedal (AP)
Remove:





- the 3 nuts
- the accelerator pedal (AP).

Removing the stop lamp sensor





Press in the push rod (1) and turn the sensor clockwise. Remove the sensor.

Installation

Installing the accelerator pedal (AP)
Install:
- the accelerator pedal (AP)
- the 3 M6 nuts.

Installing the brake pedal
Install:





- the brake pedal together with the accelerator pedal (AP)
- the 5 M8 nuts (3)
- the 1 M8 screw (4)
- the pin for the power brake booster
- the connector (1)
- the connector (2)
- new tie straps for the cable harness.

Installing the stop lamp sensor

Note: For tightening torques, see Specifications.

Make sure that the brake pedal remains in resting position when installing.

Turn the contact into place 45° counter-clockwise.

Connect the connector (1).

Finishing
Install the dashboard.
