Safety Information Pyrotechnical Systems

Safety information

WARNING:
- Only qualified technicians are allowed to work on pyrotechnic components.
- INGESTION: Combusted pyrotechnic remnants are extremely toxic. Drink plenty of water. Get immediate medical attention.
- INGESTION: Unburned pyrotechnic remnants are extremely toxic. If conscious, drink plenty of water and induce vomiting. Get immediate medical attention. If unconscious or experiencing cramps, do not induce vomiting or give anything to drink. Get immediate medical attention.
- SKIN CONTACT: Burnt pyrotechnic remnants are absorbed quickly by the skin in toxic amounts. Wash immediately with plenty of water. Do not use soap. Get immediate medical attention.
- SKIN CONTACT: Unburned pyrotechnic remnants are absorbed quickly by the skin in toxic amounts. Wash immediately with plenty of soap and water. Get immediate medical attention.
- EYE CONTACT: Exposure to combusted pyrotechnic remnants may cause irritation as well as burn and acid injuries to the eyes. Rinse immediately with a solution of diluted boric acid. Get immediate medical attention.
- EYE CONTACT: Exposure to unburned pyrotechnic remnants may cause irritation as well as burn and acid injuries to the eyes. Rinse immediately with water for at least 15 minutes. Get immediate medical attention
- INHALATION: Exposure to pyrotechnic remnants may cause low blood pressure, severe headache, irritation of mucous membranes, fainting, breathing difficulties, and rapid pulse. Move affected person (s) to fresh air. Get immediate medical attention.
- Pyrotechnic components are not interchangeable between vehicles.
- Pyrotechnic components must not be disassembled.
- Never carry out any electrical measurement on disconnected, undeployed pyrotechnic components.
- Live airbags must be placed in a suitable cage when removed from the vehicle. The airbag or trim cover must face upwards


CAUTION:
- Restraint system components must not be subjected to temperatures higher than 110 degrees C.
- Never install aftermarket accessories to the vehicle on or adjacent to the restraint system control module.


WARNING:
- If permanently disabling or enabling the passenger air bag a new seat belt for vehicles without or with a passenger air bag must be installed.
- Always carry a live air bag module away from the body with the air bag or trim cover facing upwards.
- Undeployed pyrotechnic components must not be deployed in the vehicle.
- Pyrotechnic components must be deployed before disposal.
- Check thoroughly that no loose objects can be spread during the deployment of pyrotechnic components
- Make sure to be a minimum distance of 9 meters from pyrotechnic components during deployment. If possible stand behind a wall.


NOTE: Deployed pyrotechnic components must be disposed of in accordance with local regulation.
