Signal too low

Checking components and wiring








- Disconnect any connection from the socket for the tow hitch connector
- Ignition off, wait for at least 1 minute
- Break the power supply to the trailer module (TRM) by disconnecting the battery negative lead
- Disconnect connector A from the trailer module (TRM).

Caution! Do not touch the terminal pins in the trailer module (TRM). There is a risk of static discharge which could damage the control module.

Check the connector to the trailer module (TRM) and the socket for the tow hitch connector. Check for damage to pins and terminals in the connectors.
Remedy as necessary.
Check the cable between the trailer module (TRM) and the socket for the tow hitch connector. Check for a short-circuit to ground.
Check the cable between trailer module (TRM) terminal #A10 and the socket for the tow hitch connector.
Remedy as necessary.

Hint: After carrying out the repair check that the fault has been remedied.








- Ignition off, wait for at least 1 minute
- Disconnect the battery negative lead
- Reinstall the connectors, components etc.
- Connect the battery negative lead.
- Switch on the ignition. Wait 10 seconds.
Read diagnostic trouble codes by clicking the VCT2000 symbol.
If the fault is intermittent, the fault has been remedied.
