Checking the component and wiring




- Switch off the ignition. Wait 10 seconds.
- Unplug the 10-pin connector from the occupant weight sensor (OWS).
- Unplug the connector from the belt force sensor.

Caution! Avoid touching the terminal pins in the occupant weight sensor (OWS). There is a risk of static discharge which could damage the occupant weight sensor (OWS).

Check the connectors between the pressure sensor and the occupant weight sensor (OWS) for damaged pins and connections.
Remedy as necessary.
Check the leads between pressure sensor and the occupant weight sensor (OWS) for short-circuiting to voltage/ground and open circuit.
Remedy as necessary.

Hint: After carrying out the repair check that the fault has been remedied.




- Switch off the ignition. Wait 10 seconds
- Disconnect the battery negative lead
- Reinstall the connectors, components etc.
- Ignition on
- Connect the battery negative lead. Wait 10 seconds.

Warning! There must not be anyone inside the passenger compartment when the battery is connected.

Read diagnostic trouble codes by clicking the VCT2000 symbol.
If the fault is intermittent, the fault has been remedied.

Replace the seat belt force limiter.

Make sure that new software is loaded by inspecting the label on the cable harness for Occupant Weight Sensor (OWS).
If the label is marked with an 'x', the Occupant Weight Sensor (OWS) has the latest software.

Yes - Replacing a component

No - Downloading software

After new software has been loaded, the label on the cable harness for Occupant Weight Sensor (OWS) shall be marked with an 'x'.
