Checking the component








- Switch off the ignition. Wait 10 seconds
- Set the switch to the ON position
- Switch on the ignition. Wait 10 seconds.
Read off the diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) by clicking on the VCT2000 symbol.

If the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is intermittent:
SelectContinueto erase the diagnostic trouble code (DTC).

If the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is permanent, continue fault-tracing according to:
Check the connectors for:
The switch and the Supplemental restraint system module (SRS). Check the pins and terminals. Check for contact resistance and oxidation. Check for damage.
Check the cable between the supplemental restraint system module (SRS) and the switch connector. Check for an open-circuit or short-circuit.
Check the cable between:
- The Supplemental restraint system module (SRS) terminal #B12 and switch connector terminal #1.
- The Supplemental restraint system module (SRS) terminal #B27 and switch connector terminal #2.
- The Supplemental restraint system module (SRS) terminal #B8 and switch connector terminal #5.
Remedy as necessary.
If no fault is found, replace the switch for the passenger airbag.

Hint: After carrying out the repair check that the fault has been remedied.




- Switch off the ignition. Wait 10 seconds
- Disconnect the battery negative lead
- Reinstall the connectors, components etc.
- Ignition on
- Connect the battery negative lead. Wait 10 seconds.

Warning! There must not be anyone inside the passenger compartment when the battery is connected.

Read diagnostic trouble codes by clicking the VCT2000 symbol.
If the fault is intermittent, the fault has been remedied.
