Short Circuit to Adjacent Ignition Cable
Short circuit to adjacent ignition cable
Checking the component
- Ignition off, wait for 10 seconds.
- Disconnect the connector from the roll-over bar cassette.
- Disconnect the connectors from the Supplemental restraint system module (SRS).
Warning! Under no circumstances use an ohmmeter or other live measuring instrument to take readings on a disconnected non-deployed roll-over bar cassette. Risk of the roll-over bar cassette deploying.
Caution! Do not touch the terminal pins in the supplemental restraint system module (SRS). There is a risk of static discharge. This could damage the supplemental restraint system module (SRS).
Check the ignition cables. Check for a short-circuit to another collision safety component ignition cable. With the ignition off and with the ignition cable's connectors disconnected, the resistance reading must display infinite resistance.
Take readings between:
- Terminal #1 for the relevant ignition cable connector and terminal #1 for the adjacent ignition cable connector.
- Terminal #1 for the relevant ignition cable connector and terminal #2 for the adjacent ignition cable connector.
- Terminal #2 for the relevant ignition cable connector and terminal #1 for the adjacent ignition cable connector.
- Terminal #2 for the relevant ignition cable connector and terminal #2 for the adjacent ignition cable connector.
Remedy as necessary.
Hint: Start by checking for a short-circuit to the ignition cable that has the longest shared cable routing with the relevant ignition cable.

Fault-tracing information
The fault should have been detected and remedied. As this is not the case fault-tracing has failed.
Exit fault-tracing for this diagnostic trouble code (DTC) or make another attempt.
Do you want to exit fault-tracing?
