Information about symptom fault-tracing
The diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) are included in a larger fault-tracing for the symptom Starter motor not running.
Add the symptom and fault trace according to Checking the start system.
If this has already been carried out, continue fault tracing.

Do you want to continue with this procedure?

Yes - Checking the power supply and ground terminal

No - Verification

Information

Fault-tracing information
The fault should have been detected and remedied. As this is not the case fault-tracing has failed.
Exit fault-tracing for this diagnostic trouble code (DTC) or make another attempt.

Do you want to exit fault-tracing?

Yes - Exit Fault-Tracing

No - Attempt New Test

Checking the power supply and ground terminal

- Ignition off.

Note! Steering Column Lock Module (SCL) supplied with power one to three times every 0.35 seconds during locking and unlocking.

Check the cable between central electronic module (CEM) terminal #B10 (#10) and the steering column lock module (SCL) terminal #A2. Check for an open-circuit.
Check the signal cable between central electronic module (CEM) terminals #B17 (#17) and steering column lock module (SCL) terminal #A4. Check for an open-circuit. Check for a short-circuit to ground. Check for a short-circuit to supply voltage.
Check the cable between steering column lock module (SCL) terminal #A3 and ground. Check for an open-circuit. Also check the ground terminal for oxidation.
Remedy the cables as necessary.

Test with another control module

Note! Do not program a new Steering Column Lock Module (SCL) since Steering Column Lock Module (SCL) only can be programmed once.

- Ignition off.
- Try to replace the control module without programming it.
- Click on the VCT2000 symbol.
- Check to see if the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) recurs.
If the diagnostic trouble code does not return this indicates that the original control module is defective and needs to be replaced.

Check LIN diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs)
The Central Electronic Module (CEM) both transmits and receives information via a standardized serial communication method - LIN (Local Interconnect Network).
If the control module registers serious interference in communication, the LIN-diagnostic trouble codes CEM-DDXX are generated.

Note! This part of troubleshooting is performed to check if the Gas Discharge Lamp Module (GDL) interferes with the LIN-communication. The troubleshooting only applies to vehicles equipped with GDL-lights. If the vehicle is not equipped with gas discharge lamps, click the No button to continue.

Disconnect the Gas Discharge Lamp Module (GDL).
Click on the VCT2000 symbol.
Establish whether relevant LIN diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) are stored in the control module.
These should be remedied first.

Are there relevant diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs)?

Yes - These should be remedied first

No - Replacing the control module
