Faulty Signal
Faulty signal
Checking the status
- Ignition on.
Activate reading off the rear left-hand seat belt buckle.
Check if the fault is permanent or intermittent.
Lock and unlock the rear left-hand seat belt buckle.
Hint: The signal level in the rear left-hand seat belt buckle must be approximately 5 volts when unlocked and approximately 0 volts when locked. If the signal level is between 1.3 volts and 2.6 volts, the sensor is defective.
The fault is permanent if the signal level does not change between unlocked and locked status.
If the signal level changes, this is an indication that the fault was present previously but that it is not active at the moment, i.e. the fault is intermittent.

Checking the component and wiring
Check central electronic module (CEM) connector F and the seat belt buckle connectors. Check for contact resistance. Check for oxidation. Check for damage. Check for loose connections. Also check the intermediate connector.
Check signal cable for an open-circuit and short-circuit to supply voltage.
Take readings between:
- Central electronic module (CEM) terminal #F1 (#1) and right rear seat belt buckle, connector terminal #2.
Remedy as necessary.
