Signal Too Low
Signal too low
Checking the status
- Ignition on.
Check the outside temperature.
Check if the fault is permanent or intermittent.
Note! The outside temperature sensor is always located in the left-hand door mirror, regardless of whether the vehicle is left or right-hand drive.
The fault is permanent if the outside temperature is not correct.
If the outside temperature is correct, this is an indication that the fault was present previously but that it is not active at the moment, i.e. the fault is intermittent.
Is the temperature within its permitted range?
Yes - Verification
No - Checking the component and wiring

Checking the component and wiring
- Ignition off.
Note! The outside temperature sensor is always located in the left-hand door mirror, regardless of whether the vehicle is left or right-hand drive.
Check the Central electronic module (CEM) connector terminal #F28 and #F31. Check for contact resistance and oxidation.
Check the Driver door module (DDM)/Passenger door module (PDM) connector terminal #A17 and #A8. Check for contact resistance and oxidation.
Check the outdoor temperature sensor connectors #1 and #2. Check for contact resistance and oxidation.
Check for damage carefully.
Also check the intermediate connectors. Check for contact resistance and oxidation Check for damage carefully.
Check the signal cable between the Central electronic module (CEM) and the Driver door module (DDM) /Passenger door module (PDM). Check for a short-circuit to ground.
Take readings between:
- Central electronic module (CEM) terminal #F31 (#31) and Driver door module (DDM) /Passenger door module (PDM) terminal #A8 (#8).
Check the ground cable between the Central electronic module (CEM) and the Driver door module (DDM) /Passenger door module (PDM). Check for a short-circuit to ground.
Take readings between:
- Central electronic module (CEM) terminal #F28 (#28) and Driver door module (DDM) /Passenger door module (PDM) terminal #A17 (#17).
Check the signal cable between the Driver door module (DDM) /Passenger door module (PDM) and outdoor temperature sensor. Check for a short-circuit to ground.
Take readings between:
- The Driver door module (DDM)/Passenger door module (PDM) terminal #B1 (#22) and outdoor temperature sensor connector terminal #1.
Check the ground cable between the Driver door module (DDM) /Passenger door module (PDM) and outdoor temperature sensor. Check for a short-circuit to ground.
Take readings between:
- The Driver door module (DDM)/Passenger door module (PDM) terminal #B2 (#21) and outdoor temperature sensor connector terminal #2.
Remedy as necessary.

Hint: After carrying out the repair, check that the fault has been remedied.
- Ignition off
- Reinstall the connectors, components etc.
- Ignition on.
Read off the sensor signal by clicking the VCT2000 symbol.
Check that the value is between 0.15 and 4.85 volts.
Is the value OK?
Yes - Troubleshooting procedure complete

Fault-tracing information
The fault should have been detected and remedied. As this is not the case fault-tracing has failed.
Exit fault-tracing for this diagnostic trouble code (DTC) or make another attempt.
Do you want to exit fault-tracing?
