Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Information

Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) information TCM-P071200

Condition

Oil Temperature Sensor:

The oil temperature sensor gives the transmission control module (TCM) a signal that is used for the temperature controlled lock-up and high temperature program functions. The sensor has a temperature sensitive resistor with negative temperature coefficient (NTC). The signal (voltage) drops with rising oil temperature. If the transmission control module (TCM) receives a signal from the oil temperature sensor that is too low for about 10 seconds, the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is generated.
The diagnostic trouble code can be diagnosed when the ignition is on.

Substitute value
- Transmission control module (TCM) assumes an oil temperature of 80 °C.
- Lock-up function is blocked.
- Slip lock-up function is blocked.
- Neutral check function is blocked.

Possible source
- The signal cable is short-circuited to ground.
- Oil temperature sensor not working.

Fault symptom[s]
- General warning lamp lit
- Malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) lit.
- No lock-up function.
- Harsh gear changing
