Removal
Removing the trim strip rear side window
The upper molding is secured by 10 clips.
In addition the molding is bonded at (1) and taped at (2). See the illustration.
Protect the body side using masking tape, P/N 951 1069.
Hold the molding straight.
Cut off the adhesive. Insert a bent putty knife down by each clip and break the adhesive outwards. Move the masking tape.
Cut off the tape in the lower corner.
Insert the weatherstrip tool 981 4071 STRAIGHTENING TOOL 981 4071 Straightening Tool in the end of the molding.
Use the putty knife and break off from underneath.
Remove the first 2 clips
Pull the weatherstrip off forwards.
Installation
Installing the trim strip rear side window
Check that the clips are intact.
Clean the molding area. Use "Cleaner H" or cleaning alcohol.
Apply adhesive P/N 116 1767 at (1) and (2).
Press the weatherstrip into place.
If necessary, apply double-sided adhesive tape or position a suction clamp 951 2841 Suction clamp 951 2841 Suction Clamp at (2) to hold the molding while the adhesive cures.
Note! Replacing the four lower clips at the fixed quarter window.
Install the 4 x new clips at each position.
Install a piece of tape to protect the paint.
Use bent long-nosed pliers and clamp the clip securely to the rubber molding, see illustration.
Install the molding as illustrated above.
