Procedures
Cable key interlock, replacingNote: As the illustrations in this service information are used for different model years and/or models, some variation may occur. However, the essential information in the illustrations is always correct.
Removal
Remove:
- the center console.
- the steering column covers
- the soundproofing panel.
Remove the gear selector cable from the ignition switch
Move the gear shift lever to position P.
Turn the ignition key to position I or II.
Press the lock button and pull the gear selector cable out of the ignition switch.
Remove the gear selector cable from the gear selector assembly
Pry out the yellow locking sleeve slightly (use a screwdriver).
Lift the gear selector cable off the gear selector assembly.
Remove the gear selector cable from the steering column
Disconnect the clip from the bracket located by the steering column. Also disconnect the clip located by the climate control system.
Installation
Install the transmission cable
Note: Start installation from the ignition switch.
Route the gear selector cable down along the steering wheel bracket and under the climate control unit.
Secure the gear selector cable in its clips at the bracket and climate control unit.
Press the end of the gear selector cable into place in the ignition switch. Ensure that the locking tabs for the gear selector cable are engaged and locked.
Connect the gear selector cable to the mounting for the gear selector assembly
Route the gear selector cable along the gear selector cable to the gear selector assembly. Connect the gear selector cable to the gear selector assembly mounting and the lever adjustment.

Finishing work
Install:
- the steering shaft covers
- the center console.
- the soundproofing panel.
