This TNN has been re-released to reflect the method changes in VIDA version C (introduction of "restored customer parameters" function) and the mandatory use of the Midtronics PSC 550 vehicle power supply during Software downloads.
SERVICE CAMPAIGN 135B SOFTWARE UPGRADE
DESCRIPTION
Volvo has decided that all cars involved by will be upgraded with the latest version of software to improve comfort and customer satisfaction.
NOTE:
RETAILER MUST CONFIRM VEHICLE ELIGIBILITY PRIOR TO BEGINNING RECALL CAMPAIGN REPAIRS.
Vehicle eligibility should be confirmed:
^ Inquire via VEN or VRC2 - Vehicle Warranty where the message "RECALL CAMPAIGN 135B INCOMPLETE" will appear for eligible vehicles.
SERVICE:
Following are work instructions for Service Campaign 135B. The software upgrade instructions contained in this Tech. Net Note must be performed prior to completing the procedure for software upgrade to the MOST network found in Service Campaign 135E. Many control modules will receive upgrade software and the download time will vary.
Important!
Please be advised that too low a voltage can cause nodes to become stuck in programming mode. Therefore, Battery Booster Packs are not acceptable for use during Software Downloads.
RESETTING THE CONFIGURATION OF THE BRAKE CONTROL MODULE
SERVICE: Configure the BCM by following the sequence listed below.
1. Using VIDA, go to Information / fault tracing / diagnostic trouble codes and associated procedures.
2. Select BCM DTC -0076 Control module, Faulty configuration.
3. Answer the questions in this order:
A. Was the DTC generated after the BCM was reprogrammed? YES
B. Does the car equipment correspond to the car configuration? NO
C. Does the car have TRACS, STC or DSTC? YES
4. Then follow the procedure to reset BCM configuration. Select the START button; the yellow status indicator should go from yellow to green.
5. After configuring the BCM it may be necessary to clear DTCs using VIDA.
COMPLETION
Upgrading software in electronic control modules may cause locally adjusted parameters to revert to default status (factory settings). To ensure that the customer's vehicle settings are restored, use the "RESTORED CUSTOMER PARAMETERS" function that has been introduced with VIDA version C.
1. Select the "Download History" tab
2. Select the vehicle that you just downloaded from the list
3. Click on "Restored Customer Parameters"
The dialogue window will appear to indicate which customer parameters have been rewritten and their values. Please note that not all customer parameters will be on the list, only the ones that were affected by the download and rewritten.
^ Carry out self-adjustment of the damper motors.

^ Enter the number of seats the car is equipped with, 5 or 7 does

^ Check the initiation of the driver's door window position

If the message not initiated is displayed, carry out initiation by continuing with initiating the window position.
^ Check the initiation of the passenger door window position

If the message not initiated is displayed, carry out initiation by continuing with initiating the window position.
^ Erase all diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs).

^ Set the clock in the driver information module (DIM).
