Windshield Wiper
Information and verification, windshield wiper
Symptom and function description
The windscreen wipers are switched off as long as the right-hand stalk is in position 0. The windscreen wipers are operated using the control stalk, which has four different positions:
- Intermittent wiping.
Note! This function is replaced by the rain sensor if the vehicle is equipped with one.
- Single sweep.
- Normal speed.
- High speed.
Intermittent wiping.
The time between the sweeps for intermittent wiping can be adjusted using the collar on the stalk. Turning the collar clockwise (upwards) increases the frequency of the wiper strokes.
Turning the collar anticlockwise (downwards) decreases the frequency of the wiper strokes.
Single sweep.
If the right-hand stalk is moved up, the wipers will only make one sweep.
Normal speed.
The windscreen wipers sweep at normal speed.
High speed.
The windscreen wipers sweep at high speed.
A signal tells the vehicle when the windscreen wipers are in the "parked position" in order to stop the wipers in the correct position.
The control for the rear windscreen wipers is on the end of the right-hand stalk. The rear wipers are operated via a button, which has two positions.
Upwards
- Rear windscreen intermittent wiping.
Downwards
- Normal speed of rear windscreen wipers.
The rear windscreen wiper (intermittent wiping) is also normally activated if the windscreen wipers are on and reverse gear is engaged. If the rear wiper is already engaged at normal speed when reverse gear is engaged, the engaged function does not change. The function can be reprogrammed so that the rear windscreen wiper is not activated when reverse gear is engaged and the windscreen wipers are on.
Verification
Access to the vehicle is necessary for the following checks.
- Activate ignition position II.
- Check that the different positions of the windscreen wipers work properly.
- Intermittent wiping.
- Single sweep.
- Normal speed.
- High speed.
- Check that the interval reduces respectively increases if the collar on the control stalk is turned clockwise respectively anticlockwise.
- Check that intermittent wiping on the rear windscreen starts when the button on the end of the control stalk is set to the "upward" position.
- Check that wiping at normal speed starts when the button on the end of the control stalk is set to the "downwards" position.
- Check that rear windscreen wiping starts when reverse gear is engaged and the windscreen wiper is active (as long as the function has not been reprogrammed).
Is the function OK?
