Tie rod, replacing

Removing the tie rod




Raise the car.

Remove
- the wheel
- the mounting for the parking brake cable on the tie rod
- the inner and outer tie rod retaining screws
- the tie rod.





Remove:
- the spring strut from the control arm.

Note! The spring struts are slightly compressed.

Installing tie rod





Install
- the tie rod
- the inner and outer retaining screws for the tie rod.Do not tighten yet
- the mounting for the parking brake cable.
Press the suspension up to its normal position, see Normal position Normal Position.
Tighten the outer screw for the tie rod. Tighten to 80 Nm.
Tighten the eccentric screw and nut. Tighten to 80 Nm.
Remove the mobile jack.




Install the spring strut on the lower control arms. Use a larger jimmy bar to bend the control arm down and align the spring strut against the control arm. Tighten the spring strut. Tighten to 80 Nm.
