Air Duct: Service and Repair






Air ducts and seals, replacing

Removal and Installation

Defroster duct, windshield




When replacing the defroster duct on the windshield, the entire dashboard must be replaced. See Dashboard, replacing Dashboard, Replacing

Installation
- Install in reverse order.

Air ducts on the B-post in the dashboard
Remove the air ducts from the B-post. See Panel, B-post, replacing Panel, B-Post, Replacing.
Install. See Panel, B-post, replacing Panel, B-Post, Replacing

The air duct for the dashboard nozzle, side defroster (driver's side)




Remove the dashboard. See Dashboard, replacing Dashboard, Replacing.

Removal
- Remove the side defroster nozzle.
- Remove the combined instrument panel. See Combined instrument panel Combined Instrument Panel , not including the switch
- Remove the driver's side nozzle.
- Insert a hand through the opening for the combined instrument panel. Detach the duct from the defroster duct for the windshield
- Pull the duct out through the opening for the nozzle.

Installation
- Position the duct and turn it into position
- Install the remaining components
- Everything else is installed in reverse order.

The air duct for the dashboard nozzle, side defroster (passenger side)





Removal
- Remove the outer nozzle.
- Remove the outer nozzle.
- Insert a hand through the opening for the glove compartment. Detach the duct from the windshield defroster duct
- Pull the duct out through the opening for the outer nozzle.

Installation
- Position the duct through the opening for the outer nozzle. Install the defroster duct
- Everything else is installed in reverse order.

The air distribution unit in the dashboard




Remove the dashboard. See Dashboard, replacing Dashboard, Replacing.
Remove the screws.
Detach the duct from the connections.
Detach the air duct from the air distribution unit.
Twist off the air duct from the lower mounting.
Remove the 4 screws.

Installation
- Install in reverse order.

The seal between the air distribution unit and the central electrical unit




Remove the dashboard. See Dashboard, replacing Dashboard, Replacing.
Replace the seal.

Installation
- Install in reverse order.

The front air duct on the floor for the B-post vent
Remove the front seat from the car. See Lifting seats in and out Removal and Replacement.

Remove:
- the side panel in the center console. See Center console, replacing Center Console, Replacing
- the soundproofing panel.
- the front sill trim panel. See Front door sill trim panel Front Door Sill Trim Panel
- the front floor carpet.




Pull / bend the duct at the center console. Detach the duct at the upper mounting.
Detach the duct from the member.

Installation
- Install in reverse order.

The rear air duct on the floor for the B-post vent
Remove the seat from the car. See Lifting seats in and out Removal and Replacement
Remove the rear sill guard. See Rear side door sill trim panel, left and right Rear Side Door Sill Trim Panel, Left and Right
Remove the B-post panel. See Panel, B-post, replacing Panel, B-Post, Replacing




Fold the rear carpet out of the way if necessary.
Pull off the air duct.

Installation
- Install in reverse order.

B-post air duct





Remove:
- the B-post panel. See Panel, B-post, replacing Panel, B-Post, Replacing

Installation
- Install in reverse order.

The front air ducts on the floor for the rear floor vent
Remove the seat from the car. See Lifting seats in and out Removal and Replacement
- the center console side panel. See Center console, replacing Center Console, Replacing
- the soundproofing panel.
- the front sill trim panel. See Front door sill trim panel Front Door Sill Trim Panel
- the front floor carpet.
Remove the rear air duct. See The rear air ducts on the floor for the rear floor vent




Pull / bend the duct at the center console. Detach the duct at the upper mounting.
Detach the duct from the cross member.

Installation
- Install in reverse order.

The rear air ducts on the floor for the rear floor vent




Position the front seat in the front and highest position
Pull off the duct by pulling it backwards.

Installation
- Install in reverse order.
