Checking radio reception

Checking the component

Note! Check the windshield amplifier connection to the windshield. Check that the cable from the button is pointing towards the C-post. Check the connection for loose connection.

Check that connector C is correctly connected.
Check the cable between the main unit / audio control module terminal #C1 and the windshield amplifier (center terminal). Check for a short-circuit to supply voltage according to Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault. Check for a short-circuit to ground according to Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault. Check for an open-circuit according to Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault.
Check the cable between the main unit / audio control module terminal #C2 and the sub-antenna amplifier (center terminal). Check for a short-circuit to supply voltage according to Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault. Check for a short-circuit to ground according to Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault. Check for an open-circuit according to Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault.
Remedy as necessary.

Was a fault detected?

Yes - Fault Found

No - Replacing the component

Replacing the component
Try a new windshield antenna amplifier.
Ignition off.
Reinstall the connectors, components etc.
Ignition on.

Hint: Check radio reception by testing the audio unit in another car in the same location.

Test radio reception.
If the reception is still poor try a new sub-antenna amplifier.
Ignition off.
Reinstall the connectors, components etc.
Ignition on.

Yes - Fault Found

No - No Fault Found
