Checking the reset button

Checking the reset button
The reset button does not function. This means that the alarm cannot be switched off.
Cause of fault:
- Open-circuit or loose connections between the reset button and the alarm control module
- Faulty reset button
- Open-circuit or loose connections between the reset button and the ground terminal.

Checking the reset button terminal
Check the alarm control module connectors. Check for loose connections, contact resistance and oxidation.
Check the cable terminals in the female and male sections of the connector. The cable terminals must not be damaged or pressed back.
Check the cable between the alarm control module and the reset button for an open-circuit.
Check the cable between the reset button and ground. Check for an open-circuit.
Disconnect the control module connector B.
Measure the resistance between terminal #B6 and ground when the reset button is depressed. The resistance must be approximately 0 ohms.

Hint: The reset button is located in the cowl in the engine compartment.

Remedy as necessary.

Hint: After carrying out the repair, check that the fault has been remedied.




- Press the alarm button below the steering column cover.
Check that the headlamps and turn signal lamps flash.
Check that a pulsing sound is heard from the horn.
The reset button is located in the cowl in the engine compartment.
The turn signal lamps and headlamps should stop flashing and the horn should fall silent.

Is the function OK?

Yes - VERIFIED

No - VERIFICATION FAILED

The fault should have been detected and remedied. As this is not the case fault-tracing has failed.
Exit fault-tracing for this diagnostic trouble code (DTC) or make another attempt.
