- Remove the soundproofing panel on the passenger side. Pull the soundproofing panel straight down and forwards.

- Remove the sill moulding (1).

- Fold the carpet to one side.

- Cut away a section of the soundproofing at the A-post (the shaded area in the illustration).

- Take the short flanged screw and the bracket from the kit
- Install the bracket. Use the screws in the existing weld nut as illustrated. Do not tighten fully yet
- Turn the bracket to maintain a distance of 45 mm between one corner of the bracket and the centre of the hole for the lower ground screw. See the illustration
- Tighten the screw.

- Partially fold the carpet back over the bracket
- Make a hole in the carpet opposite the upper mounting hole in the bracket using a double ended scriber.

- Take a screw and the passenger compartment socket from the kit. Tighten the passenger compartment socket to the bracket in the upper mounting
- Insert the double ended scriber into the lower mounting for the passenger compartment socket. Make a hole in the carpet opposite the lower hole on the bracket
- Tighten the lower mounting for the passenger compartment connector socket. Use a screw from the kit.

- Press a locking sleeve from the kit onto the passenger compartment socket. Slide the locking sleeve as far along the terminal for the passenger compartment socket as possible
- Cut a slit in the carpet just in front of the locking sleeve. Use a carpet knife. Make the cut as long as the diameter of the locking sleeve.

Note! Do not damage wiring or hoses under the carpet.

- Remove the passenger compartment connector socket from the bracket. Fold the carpet to one side.

- Raise the car
- Remove the screw (1) from the left air baffle (2) for the front brake
- Pull the left air baffle backwards. Remove the left air baffle
- Remove the right air baffle in the same way.

- Remove the screws (1)
- Press in the catches (2) and pull the air baffle down/backwards. Remove the air baffle
- Remove the screws (3). Remove the splash guard.

- Cut away the engine compartment insulation when punching through
- Cut the top off the rubber grommet (1).

- Pull the cable for the front engine block heater socket from the clamp
- Remove the clamp. This will not be used again.

- Remove the locking sleeve over the splice on the wiring for the engine block heater
- Disconnect both connectors.

Note! If the existing ground terminal obstructs the junction connector and wiring use a new ground terminal. See point 19.

Mark out a hole for drilling for the passenger compartment connector socket on the underside of the left-hand front member. Mark out as illustrated
- Drill out the hole. Use a 4 mm (5/32 ") diameter drill bit
- Remove any swarf. Rust-proof the edges of the holes.

- Route the cable (from the kit) over the right-hand front corner of the sub-frame to the passenger compartment connector socket.

- Lubricate the O-rings on the extension cable connector, the junction connector and the front engine block heater socket connector. Use low temperature grease, (P/N 1161417-9).

Note! Do not get any grease on the contact surfaces of the connector.

- Take the junction connector from the kit. Connect the cable (1) for the front engine block heater socket, the cable (2) for the engine block heater and the cable (3) for the passenger compartment connector socket. Firmly press the cable splices together.

- Press the locking sleeves (from the kit) over the cable splices.

- Tighten the junction connector on the lower side of the side member. Use a screw from the kit. If the ground terminal was removed to make room for the junction connector, drill a - 4 mm (5/32 ") hole for the new ground terminal as illustrated. Otherwise use the existing ground terminal
- Rust-proof the hole edges. Tighten the ground lead properly.

- Route the cable for the passenger compartment socket over the left front corner of the sub-frame, where the cable to the engine block heater runs
- Press four tie straps (1) from the kit into the holes in the sub-frame. Position the cable in the clamps. Tighten the clamps.

- Take a clamp from the kit. Secure the plate edge on the bracket for the power steering.

- Press the cable for the passenger compartment connector socket into the clamp.

- Insert the radiant heat protection (1) from the kit onto the cable for the passenger compartment connector socket
- Thread the radiant heat protection up to the clamp on the power steering bracket
- Adjust the length of the radiant heat protection up to the lead-in the cowl panel. Cut to a suitable length
- Secure the radiant heat protection in position. Use two tie straps (2) from the kit.

- Insert the cable for the passenger compartment connector socket through the rubber grommet into the passenger compartment
- Lubricate the rubber grommet to facilitate inserting the cable. Use low temperature grease (P/N 1161417-9).

- Route the cable from the rubber grommet in the cowl panel
- Lubricate the O-ring. Use low temperature grease, (P/N 1161417-9).

Note! Do not contaminate the connector surfaces with grease.

- Connect the cable to the passenger compartment connector socket. Press a locking sleeve from the kit over the joint
- Fold the carpet back into position. Install the passenger compartment socket. Use both the screws.

Reinstall:
- the soundproofing panel
- the sill trim panel
- the right side panel for the centre console
- the centre air baffle
- the two air baffles at the sides of the car (if applicable)
- the engine cover. Tighten to 24 Nm (18 lbf. ft.).
