Warning! Follow the safety instructions for work on air conditioning systems. See: Refrigerant, safety regulations Technician Safety Information.

Note! First read the instructions covering slow and fast leaks. See Oil in the A/C system Service and Repair.

Note! Always plug the pipes and connections when working on the climate control system.

Condenser - Work in the engine compartment
- Disconnect the battery negative lead. See Battery, replacing Battery, Replacing
- Drain the refrigerant from the system. See Refrigerant, draining Refrigerant, Draining

- Remove the air pipe from the control module box.

- Remove the upper screws holding the air conditioning aggregate together. Pull the aggregate outwards slightly.

- Remove the screws from the upper mountings on the air conditioning aggregate.

Condenser - Work under the car

Remove:
- the air baffle.

Remove
- the pipe coupling from the receiver / dryer.

The lower mounting for the air conditioning aggregate:
- Partially slacken off the screws on the right-hand side
- Remove the screws on the left-hand side.

Slightly lower the air conditioning aggregate on the left-hand side. This is to access the screw.

Remove
- the screw from the hose / pipe coupling between the compressor and the condenser.
Use a curved ring spanner
- the hose from the catch on the condenser. Carefully push the hose to one side.

- Slacken off the lower screws holding the air conditioning aggregate together. Pull the aggregate outwards slightly
- Press the air conditioning aggregate backwards. Lower the condenser slightly. Remove the pressure sensor on the receiver
- Remove the condenser
- Remove the receiver / dryer. See Accumulator / receiver drier, replacing Service and Repair.

Installation

Condenser - Work under the car
- Screw the protective sleeve loosely into place on the service valve

- Press the air conditioning aggregate backwards. Push the condenser up slightly. Install the switch from the pressure sensor on the receiver.

- Thread in the lower screws for the air conditioning aggregate
- Check that the condenser is in the correct position against the air conditioning aggregate. Tighten the screws for the air conditioning aggregate.

- Position the hose / pipe from the compressor in the mounting hook. Position the hose / pipe in the hose connector on the condenser
- Thread and tighten the screw by hand so that the hose connector touches the bottom
- Tighten the screw for the hose connector from the compressor. Tighten to 25 Nm ±6 Nm.

- Position the air conditioning aggregate against the rubber seals. Tighten the screws for the air conditioning aggregate against the member
- Check that the seals are correctly positioned.
