Signal Too Low. Intermittent Fault

Signal too low. Intermittent fault

Intermittent fault

- Ignition off.
- Disconnect the connector from the seat belt tensioner.

Warning! Under no circumstances use an ohmmeter or other live measuring instrument to take readings on a disconnected non-deployed pyrotechnic seat belt tensioner. This could deploy the seat belt tensioner!

Caution! Do not touch the terminal pins in the SRS control module. There is a risk of static discharge which could damage the SRS control module.

Check the connector for the SRS module and for the seat belt tensioner for contact resistance and oxidation and remedy according to Checking wiring and terminals. Intermittent faults Checking Wiring and Terminals. Intermittent Faults and loose connections according to Checking wiring and terminals. Intermittent faults Checking Wiring and Terminals. Intermittent Faults.
Check the cable between the SRS and the terminal of the seat belt tensioner connector according to the following:

for diagnostic trouble code (DTC) SRS-0061,
front left seat belt tensioner #5A(5), #6A(6) and connector #1, #3.

for diagnostic trouble code (DTC) SRS-0069,
front right seat belt tensioner #5C(1), #6C(2) and connector #1, #3.

for diagnostic trouble code (DTC) SRS-0071,
rear left seat belt tensioner #16A(16), #15A(15) and connector #1, #3.

for diagnostic trouble code (DTC) SRS-0079,
center rear seat belt tensioner #17A(17), #18A(18) and connector #1, #3.

for diagnostic trouble code (DTC) SRS-0081,
rear right seat belt tensioner #16C(12), #15C(11) and connector #1, #3.
for an intermittent short-circuit to ground according to Checking wiring and terminals. Intermittent faults Checking Wiring and Terminals. Intermittent Faults.
Remedy as necessary.

Other information:
- To access / replace the SRS control module and connector, Service and Repair.
- To replace the connector for the seat belt tensioner, see Seat belts, replacing Seat Belts, Replacing.
- To connect the breakout box, see Signal specification Signal Description, Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) Control Unit.
- With the ignition off and the connector for the seat belt tensioner and for the SRS control module disconnected, the resistance between the seat belt tensioner connector #1, #3 (SRS control module side) and the removed battery positive pole should read infinity.
- For information about removing the breakout box, see Battery, disconnecting Battery Disconnecting.
- To repair SRS wiring, see Cable harness SRS system, repair Procedures.
