Capacitance Too High
Capacitance too high. Intermittent fault
Intermittent fault
- Ignition off.
Warning! Never use an ohmmeter or any other charged measuring instrument on a disconnected, undeployed explosive inflatable curtain. There is a risk that the inflatable curtain could be deployed!
Caution! Avoid touching the contact pins in the supplemental restraint system (SRS) control unit. There is a risk of an electrostatic discharge which can cause damage to the supplemental restraint system (SRS) control unit.
Check the supplemental restraint system (SRS) control unit connector and the inflatable curtain connector for contact resistance and oxidation as described in Checking wiring and terminals. Intermittent faults Checking Wiring and Terminals. Intermittent Faults and for a loose contact as described in Checking wiring and terminals. Intermittent faults Checking Wiring and Terminals. Intermittent Faults.
Check the wire between the supplemental restraint system (SRS) control unit 21C (21), 22C (22) and connector 1, 3 on right inflatable curtain for an intermittent short circuit to ground as described in Checking wiring and terminals. Intermittent faults Checking Wiring and Terminals. Intermittent Faults.
Do the necessary corrective action.
Additional information:
- To access/replace the supplemental restraint system (SRS) control unit connector, see Supplemental restraint system module (SRS), replacing Service and Repair
- To access/replace the right inflatable curtain connector, see IC (inflatable curtain) module, replacing IC (Inflatable Curtain) Module, Replacing
- To connect the test box, see Connecting the breakout box Connecting the Breakout Box, Supplemental Restraint System Module (SRS)
- With ignition off and with the right inflatable curtain connector and the special tool 951 1506 Test dummy 951 1506 Test Dummy connected, the displayed resistance between 21C (21) and 22C (22) on the supplemental restraint system (SRS) connector (to the inflatable curtain) should be infinite
- With ignition off and right inflatable curtain connector and SRS control unit connector disconnected, the resistance between inflatable curtain connector 1, 3 (to supplemental restraint system (SRS) control unit) and ground should be infinite
- For information on repairing the SRS wiring, see Cable harness SRS system, repair Procedures
- For additional values, see Signal specification Signal Description, Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) Control Unit.

Fault-tracing information
If the fault is intermittent, do not verify fault-tracing if the fault does not recur.
It is possible to view the information again, or leave fault-tracing for this diagnostic trouble code (DTC).
Do you want to view the information again?
Yes - Attempt New Test
