Signal Too High
Signal too high. Permanent fault
Checking the components
- Ignition off.
- Disconnect the left inflatable curtain connector.
- Connect the special tool 951 1506 Test dummy 951 1506 Test Dummy to the air curtain connector on the left side.
Warning! Never use an ohmmeter or any other charged measuring instrument on a disconnected, undeployed explosive inflatable curtain. There is a risk that the inflatable curtain could be deployed!
Note! The special tool must be checked and fault-free. If the special tool is defective, the wrong diagnosis will be displayed and trouble-shooting will be more difficult.
- Ignition on, wait for approximately 10 seconds.
Read the diagnostic trouble codes.
If the status of the diagnostic trouble code changes from permanent to intermittent, check by changing the air curtain on the left side.
Additional information:
- To access/replace the left inflatable curtain, see IC (inflatable curtain) module, replacing IC (Inflatable Curtain) Module, Replacing
- To check the special tool, see Calibration Calibrating the Special Tool.
Does the status of the diagnostic trouble code change?
Yes - Verification
No - Checking the components and wires

Checking the components and wires
- Ignition off.
- Disconnect the special tool 951 1506 Test dummy 951 1506 Test Dummy from the air curtain connector on the left side.
Warning! Never use an ohmmeter or any other charged measuring instrument on a disconnected, undeployed explosive inflatable curtain. There is a risk that the inflatable curtain could be deployed!
Caution! Avoid touching the contact pins in the supplemental restraint system (SRS) control unit. There is a risk of an electrostatic discharge which can cause damage to the supplemental restraint system (SRS) control unit.
Check the wire between the supplemental restraint system (SRS) control unit 21A (21), 22A (22) and connector 1, 3 on the left inflatable curtain for a short circuit to voltage supply as described in Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault.
Do the necessary corrective action.
Additional information:
- To access/replace the supplemental restraint system (SRS) control unit connector, see Supplemental restraint system module (SRS), replacing Service and Repair
- To access/replace the left inflatable curtain connector, see IC (inflatable curtain) module, replacing IC (Inflatable Curtain) Module, Replacing
- To connect the test box, see Connecting the breakout box Connecting the Breakout Box, Supplemental Restraint System Module (SRS)
- With ignition off and the left inflatable curtain connector disconnected and SRS control unit connector disconnected, the resistance between the inflatable curtain connector 1, 3 (to the supplemental restraint system (SRS) control unit) and the battery positive lead should be infinite
- For information on repairing the SRS wiring, see Cable harness SRS system, repair Procedures
- For additional values, see Signal specification Signal Description, Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) Control Unit.
Press Continue when fault has been repaired.

Fault-tracing information
The fault should have been detected and remedied. As this is not the case fault-tracing has failed.
Exit fault-tracing for this diagnostic trouble code (DTC) or make another attempt.
Do you want to exit fault-tracing?
Yes - Exit Fault-Tracing
No - Attempt New Test

Hint: After carrying out the repair, check that the fault has been remedied.
- Ignition off
- Disconnect the battery negative lead
- Reinstall the connectors, components etc.
- Ignition on
- Connect the battery negative lead.
Warning! There must not be anyone inside the passenger compartment when the battery is connected.
- Read off diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs).
The fault is no longer present if the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) status is intermittent.
Is the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) intermittent?
Yes - Verification completed
No - Trouble-shooting information
