Checking the wiring and component
Hint: The hands-free microphone is connected to the phone module (PHM) via a connector in the right-hand A-post.
- Ignition off.
Check the cable between phone module (PHM) connector terminal A1 (terminal #1) and hands-free microphone connector C terminal A. Check for a short-circuit to ground. See Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault.
Try replacing the hands-free microphone if no fault is found in the wiring.
Remedy as necessary.

- Reinstall the connectors, components etc.
- Ignition on
- Switch on the car-phone.
Make a call so that both the handset and the hands-free system are used. See the instruction manual.

Check that the relevant diagnostic trouble code (DTC) has switched status from permanent to intermittent fault.
