Gear selector lever assembly, replacing

Removal

Removing components

Remove center console. See: Center console, replacing Center Console, Replacing.

S60 and V70
Remove the gear selector lever knob. See: Gear selector lever knob, replacing Gear Selector Lever Knob, Replacing.

Removing the gear selector cable from the ball joint

Remove:
- the connector
- the screws for the gear selector assembly. Lift the gear selector assembly and twist it so that the lower gear selector cable is accessible.

Removing the gear selector cable from the ball joint and gear selector assembly

Hint: The screw on the puller is turned counter-clockwise to pull the gear selector cable loose.

Remove the gear selector cable from the ball joint. Use: 999 7071 Puller 999 7071 Puller. Carefully pry up the catches (1) and slide the cable sleeves upward on both gear selector cables.

Installation

Note! For tightening torques, see applicable specifications.

Installing the cables and the gear selector assembly

Install:
- the gear selector cables on the levers on the gear selector assembly. Press the cable sleeves onto the gear selector assembly by hand
- the gear selector assembly on the bodywork (M8)
- the connector on the gear selector assembly.

Finishing

S60 and V70
Install the gear selector lever knob. See: Gear selector lever knob, replacing Gear Selector Lever Knob, Replacing.

Install the center console. See: Center console, replacing Center Console, Replacing.
