Gear selector lever assembly Geartronic, replacing

Removal

Removing the center console

Remove the center console. Center Console, Replacing

Removing the gear selector knob
Remove the gear selector knob. See Gear selector knob, Geartronic, replacement Gear Selector Knob, Geartronic, Replacing.

Removing the top panel from the gear selector assembly

Removing the gear selector assembly stop
Remove the gear selector assembly stop. See Printed circuit board gear selector assembly/top panel Geartronic, replacing Printed Circuit Board Gear Selector Assembly/Top Panel Geartronic, Replacing.

Removing the gear selector assembly and cables





Remove:
- the catch for the cable at the gear selector lever
- the cable from the end of the gear selector assembly
- the key lock cable. Pry out the locking sleeve slightly and lift up the cable from the gear selector assembly
- the 4 screws for the gear selector assembly.





Transferring the solenoid
Transfer the solenoid and the connector.
Remove the mounting bracket. Pull it up out of the gear selector assembly. Disconnect the connector.

Installation

Note! For tightening torques, see the relevant specifications.

Installing the cables and gear selector assembly





Install:
- the gear selector assembly to the bodywork. Tighten
- the cable to the gear selector. Secure the cable with the catch
- cable on the gear selector nose
- the key lock cable to the gear selector assembly. Place the cable in the extracted locking sleeve.

Installing the gear selector assembly stop

Installing the top panel on the gear selector assembly
Install the top panel. See Printed circuit board gear selector assembly/top panel Geartronic, replacing Printed Circuit Board Gear Selector Assembly/Top Panel Geartronic, Replacing.

Installing gear selector knob
Install the gear selector knob. See Gear selector knob, Geartronic, replacement Gear Selector Knob, Geartronic, Replacing.

Initial setting of the key lock cable (adjusting)




Turn the ignition key to position 0.
Move the gear shift lever to position P.
Position a 5 mm drill bit in the housing above the yellow locking sleeve. This is to get the lever into the secured position.
Install the cable on the housing and on the threaded end in the groove on the yellow locking sleeve.
Press the locking sleeve so that it locks the cable.

Check
Check that the keycannotbe removed when the gear selector is inany other position than P.
