Shift Cable: Adjustments






Gear selector cables, adjusting

Note! As the illustrations in this service information are used for different model years and / or models, some variation may occur. However, the essential information is always correct.

Preparatory work
Ensure that the car is on a level surface. The parking brake must not be applied.
Move the gear selector to position P.
Ignition off.

Exposing the adjuster for the cable





Remove:
- the fresh air intake from the air cleaner (ACL) housing
- the fresh air intake and the air cleaner (ACL) housing (Applies to cars with B5254T4 engines).

Adjusting the gear selector cable




Release the adjuster on the gear selector cable by sliding the spring-loaded sleeve forwards and pulling the lug up to the release position.
Press the lever forwards to the P position on the transmission (the foremost position of the lever). Move the gear shift lever to position P.

Note! Check that P position is engaged: Try to roll the car.

Adjusting the gear selector cable




Check that the gear selector is in position P.
Press the lug on the cable down.

Installing components





Install:
- the fresh air intake for the air cleaner (ACL) housing
- the fresh air intake and the air cleaner (ACL) housing and all connections (Applies to cars with B5254T4 engines).
