DESCRIPTION:
Our analysis has found that the ECM can cause whining noise on the low AM-band when it communicate with
the pump electronic module (PEM), using a pulse width modulation (PWM) signal. This type of signal
normally contains a large frequency spectrum and could easily be picked up by the AM antenna. See attachment.
From M/Y 2005 the PEM was introduced on all Turbo models.
PRODUCT MODIFICATION:
From 2005 week 4 a ferrite has been added in the cable harness to PEM, this will minimize the noise on AM band.
Three different service solutions are under development for older cars.
