Bi-Xenon headlight lens, replacing
Note! Some variation in the illustrations may occur, but the essential information is always correct.
Lens removal, Bi-Xenon headlight
Hint: Read through the entire method before beginning work.
Headlight removal
Remove the headlight. See Headlamp / bulb, replacing Headlamp/Bulb, Replacing.
Use of attachments
Fasten the headlight housing in the vice using tool 999 7069 Fixture 999 7069 Fixture.
Remove:
- the decor strip
- the clips
Masking with tape
Caution! To protect the headlight housing from adhesive residue, tape the headlight housing with masking tape.
Tape around the housing as illustrated (1) (everything that is block) against the edge of the lens. Also tape at the decor strip attachments.
Removing the headlight lens
If the lens is broken/cracked, remove it as described in Removing a broken/cracked headlamp lens Removing A Broken/Cracked Headlamp Lens
Warning! Wear protective gloves and goggles.
Note! Carefully heat so that the edge of the headlight housing is not damaged.
Heat the lens at the adhesive in the headlight housing using high heat so that the lens becomes really warm.
Insert the knife between the lens and the plastic edge. Carefully pull the knife through the adhesive around th entire housing a few times while heating the top of the lens (be careful not to damage the plastic edge with the knife).
Bend the lens straight up about 5 cm starting on the side at the outer end.
Caution! Be careful not to damage the plastic edge of the headlight housing.
Raise the lens and hold it up. Use the knife to remove the adhesive from the inside and remove it from the interior of the headlight housing a little at a time so that no adhesive residue ends up on the black decor anel when the lens is lifted straight up from the headlight housing.
Remove any adhesive residue from the black decor panel on the inside of the headlight housing.

Removing adhesive residue from grooves
Protect the reflectors/decor panel by taping over them with paper and masking tape.
Allow the adhesive to cool in the groove a bit so that it is easier to remove.
Cut the adhesive along both sides using tools 999 7067 Scrape 999 7067 Scrape and 999 7066 Filler 999 7066 Filler until the surface in the groove is somewhat even. Even out any adhesive residue that is left using a hot air gun and chisel.
Lens installation, Bi-Xenon headlight
Fitting butyl tape
Remove the protective paper and masking tape from over the reflector/decor panel and light housing.
If necessary, carefully blow clean around the reflector and headlight housing.
Ensure that there are no lens pieces in the headlight housing.
Use: Butyl tape, 1161782
in the groove around the headlight, starting at the lower edge. Avoid touching the tape.
Installing the headlight lens
Clean the edge of the lens.
Use: Isopropanol, 1161721
Install:
- the headlight lens in the grove and press into place all around.
- the clips - position and press in place
- 2 clips at the ribbed markings, see illustration
- the decor strip over the headlight housing.
Installing the headlight
Install the headlight as described in Headlamp / bulb, replacing Headlamp/Bulb, Replacing.
Check the light and light setting.
