Pipe/hose, compressor, replacing

Before starting work on the compressor or magnetic clutch compressor

Warning! Follow the safety instructions for work on air conditioning (A/C) systems. See

Note! First read the instructions covering slow and quick leaks. See Oil in the A/C system Service and Repair

Note! Always plug the pipes and couplings when working on the climate control system.

Removal
- Disconnect the battery negative lead. See Battery, replacing Battery, Replacing
- Drain the refrigerant from the system.

Remove
- the air pipe at the control module box
- the hose clamp and charge air pipe / hose on the right-hand side (turbocharged engines only). If necessary, use a hot air gun to make removal easier.

- Disconnect the pipe and hose between the compressor and the condenser.

- Remove the screws from the upper mountings on the air conditioning aggregate.

Work under the car
- Remove the air baffle.

The lower mounting for the air conditioning aggregate
- Slacken off the screw on the right-hand side
- Remove the screw on the left-hand side.

- Slightly lower the air conditioning aggregate on the left-hand side. This is to access the screw.

Remove
- the screw from the hose / pipe coupling between the compressor and the condenser. Use a claw wrench
- the hose from the catch on the condenser. Carefully push the hose to one side.

Installation
Note! Always use new O-rings lubricated with compressor oil

- Position the pipe / hose in the mounting on the condenser. Position the pipe coupling
- Thread and tighten the screw by hand as much as possible
- Tighten the screw for the pipe coupling from the compressor. Tighten to 25 Nm ±6 Nm.

- Locate the air conditioning aggregate against the rubber seals. Tighten the lower screws for the air conditioning aggregate. Tighten to 25 Nm
- Check that the seals are correctly positioned.

- Install the air baffle.

Work in the engine compartment
Note! Always use new O-rings lubricated with compressor oil.

- Position the pipe and hose connections on the compressor
- Tighten to 25 Nm.

- Thread the screws on to the upper mountings on the air conditioning aggregate
- Tighten to 10 Nm.
- Install the hose clamp and the charge air pipe and hose on the right-hand side (turbocharged engines only).

- Install the air pipe on the control module box.
- Top up with oil. See Oil in the A/C system Service and Repair
- Vacuum pump the system and leak test.
- Fill the system and check for leaks.
- Connect the battery negative lead. See Battery, replacing Battery, Replacing
