Heat exchanger, replacing

Removing the heat exchanger





Remove:
- the heater. See Engine coolant heater, replacing Engine Coolant Heater, Replacing
- the control module. See Control module engine coolant heater, replacing Service and Repair
- the water pump. See Replacing the water pump for the engine coolant heater Service and Repair
- the glow plug. See Replacing the glow plugs of the engine coolant heater Service and Repair
- the cable harness.
Expose and replace the heat exchanger.

Installing the heat exchanger

Install:
- the cable harness
- the glow plug. See Replacing the glow plugs of the engine coolant heater Service and Repair
- the water pump. See Replacing the water pump for the engine coolant heater Service and Repair
- the control module. See Control module engine coolant heater, replacing Service and Repair
- the heater. See Engine coolant heater, replacing Engine Coolant Heater, Replacing.

Note! When installing, check that there is clearance between the fuel line and water hose.

Final check
Test run the heater. Check the function of the heater. See Engine coolant heater, test running Component Tests and General Diagnostics.
Check for leakage in the engine coolant hoses or fuel lines.
Top up the coolant if necessary.
Check that no diagnostic trouble codes (DTC) have been stored during the repair work.
