Brakes - Front and Rear Brakes Squeal

Front and Rear brake squeal

DESCRIPTION:
A front brake caliper dampener and new rear brake pads with improved noise suppression properties have been introduced in production. These improvements are now available as a service solution. If a customer should complain of a squealing noise from the front or rear brakes follow the appropriate instructions below.





SERVICE FRONT BRAKES:
If there is a squealing noise from the front brakes and the vehicle is below the listed chassis # follow the instructions below.





Remove Bolts 1.

^ Remove the two caliper bolts.

Assembling of the mass damper 2.





^ Install the mass dampers as shown (one on each front caliper).

^ Use two new bolts (supplied in kit) on each caliper. (Torque to 100 Nm / 74 ft lbs).





Removing brake pad shims 3.

^ Remove the brake pads. Remove and discard the two stainless steel shims attached to each brake pad.

^ Grease the brake pads and the contact surfaces in the brake caliper with the silicone grease (1161688).

^ Reinstall pads

Note!
The brake pads are marked with directional arrows that will point downwards.





SERVICE REAR BRAKES:
If there is a squealing noise from the rear brakes and the vehicle is below the listed chassis # replace the rear brake pads using PN 30683858, apply grease PN 1161688. If these pads PN 30683858 have been installed previously, it will not be necessary to replace them again.
