Checking Foldable Head Restraints

Checking foldable head restraints

Checking the relay
Check the function of relay 2/75: Activate and deactivate the relay a number of times. The relay is functioning if there is a clicking sound when the relay is activated and deactivated.
Replace with a new relay if the relay does not function.

Other information:
- To access the integrated relay / fusebox in the cargo compartment, see Integrated relay/fuse box cargo compartment/rear electronic module, replacing Integrated Relay/Fusebox Cargo Compartment/Rear Electronic Module (REM), Replacing.

Was a fault detected?

Yes - Fault Found

No - Checking components and wiring

-------------------------------------------------

Checking components and wiring
Check that fuses 11D/7 and 11E/6 are intact.
Check the cable between fuse 11D/7 terminal #2 and relay 2/75 terminal #5. Check for an open-circuit. Check for a short-circuit to ground.
Check the cable between relay 2/75 terminal #3 and the left and right head restraints solenoid connector terminal #1. Check for an open-circuit. Check for a short-circuit to ground.
Check the cable between connector terminal #4 for each of the head restraints and the ground terminal. Check for an open-circuit.
Remedy as necessary.
Check the resistance of each head restraint solenoid. Too high resistance indicates an open-circuit in the solenoid. Too low resistance indicates a short-circuit in the solenoid. Replace the head restraint in the event of a fault in the solenoid.

Hint: The resistance in a fault-free head restraint solenoid is 2.0 - 2.5 ohms. The resistance should be measured between connector terminals #1 and #4 on each of the head restraint solenoids.
