Mechanism / mechanical cable sun roof, replacement

Caution! When replacing the mechanism / mechanical cable, both sides must be replaced.

Preparatory work

Remove:
- the sun roof. See Sun roof, replacing Sun Roof, Replacing
- the motor. See Motor sun roof, replacement Service and Repair
- the glass cover. See Glass sun roof, replacement Service and Repair
- the drainage channel. See Gutter sun roof, replacement Service and Repair.

Removing the mechanism / mechanical cable




Angle the mechanism up.
Remove the screw.




Pull the carriage as far back as possible.
Remove the carriage from the slides.





Remove:
- the screw
- the bracket.

Note! Note the position of the locating pin for the drive plate against the bracket.

Pull the drive plate as far back as possible.




Remove the 2 screws.




Pull the carriage out.
Angle up and pull out the mounting / mechanical cable.




Withdraw the mechanism.

Installing the mechanism / mechanical cable

Note! For tightening torques, see Tightening torque [1][2]Body and Frame.




Remove the bracket from the mechanism (applies to service kit).




Slide in the mechanism to the front position.




Remove the mounting / mechanical cable from the new drive plate (applies to service kit).




Slide the drive plate into the groove.
Slide in the mounting / mechanical cable.




Install the mounting / mechanical cable on the drive plate using the 2 M4 screws. Tighten.




Slide in the drive plate with the mounting / mechanical cable. Guide it in against the mechanism.




Install the bracket for the mechanism.

Note! Position the guide pin for the drive plate against the bracket. Use the 1 M4 screw. Tighten.




Angle in and press the mounting for the gutter into place.




Slide in the mounting for the gutter.
Install the link rod for the mechanism. Tighten the screw.

Finishing

Install:
- the motor. See Motor sun roof, replacement Service and Repair
- the drainage channel. See Gutter sun roof, replacement Service and Repair
- the sun roof. See Sun roof, replacing Sun Roof, Replacing
- the glass cover. See Glass sun roof, replacement Service and Repair.
Adjust. See Sun roof, adjusting Adjustments.
Check for leakage. See Sun roof, leak test Component Tests and General Diagnostics.
