Checking the hands-free

Checking the components and wiring

Hint: The hands-free microphone is connected to the phone module (PHM) via a connector in the right-hand A-post.
The hands-free loudspeaker is connected to the phone module (PHM) via a connector under the driver's seat.




- Ignition off.
Check the hands-free speaker and phone module (PHM) connectors. Check for loose connections. See Checking wiring and terminals. Intermittent faults Checking Wiring and Terminals. Intermittent Faults.
Check the cable between the phone module (PHM) connector A4 (terminal #4) and hands-free loudspeaker connector B10. Check the cable between phone module (PHM) connector A5 (terminal #5) and hands-free loudspeaker connector B9. Check for an open-circuit. See Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault.
Check the cable between phone module (PHM) connector terminal A11 (terminal #11) and hands-free microphone connector C terminal B. Check for a short-circuit to supply voltage. See Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault.
Try a new hands-free loudspeaker.
Try a new hands-free microphone.
Remedy as necessary.
