Signal Too Low. Intermittent Fault
Signal too low. Intermittent fault
Checking the wiring and component
Hint: The carphone module is connected to the GPS antenna via a connector in the right-hand A-post.
- Ignition off.
Check the antenna cable between the carphone module connector G (gray) and connector E (terminal 1) in the right-hand A post. Check for a short-circuit to ground according to Checking wiring and terminals. Intermittent faults Checking Wiring and Terminals. Intermittent Faults. Take readings at connector G between:
Try replacing the antenna if no fault is found in the antenna cable.
- A (antenna signal) and B (shield ground)
- A (antenna signal) and body ground.
Check the GPS antenna cable and carphone module connectors. Check for loose connections according to Checking wiring and terminals. Intermittent faults Checking Wiring and Terminals. Intermittent Faults.
Remedy as necessary.
Other information:
- The GPS antenna has an internal resistance of approximately 60 ohms
- The resistance of the antenna cable between the carphone module and the connector in the right A-post, when measured using an ohmmeter, must be infinite between the signal cable and the shield or body ground
