The following fault-tracing applies ONLY to cars with trailer connectors.
Is the test applicable?
Yes - Checking the relay
No - No Fault Found

Checking the relay
Check the function of relay 2/83: Activate and deactivate the relay a number of times. The relay is functioning if there is a clicking sound when the relay is activated and deactivated.
Replace with a new relay if the relay does not function.

Checking components and wiring
Check that fuse 11D/2 is intact.
Check the cable between relay 2/83 terminal #3 and the trailer connector. Check for an open-circuit. Check for a short-circuit to ground.
Check the cable between the trailer connector and the ground terminal for an open-circuit.
Remedy as necessary.
