Checking Electronic Child Locks






Checking electronic child locks

Checking the switch
Check the switch for the child-proof lock by clicking on the VCT2000 symbol.
- Note the number of the switch that corresponds to the location of each switch for the child-proof lock in the car. Start the read off
- Press the switch for electronic child-proof locking several times
- Check on the display that there is a signal from the switch.
Remedy as necessary.

Check fuses 11C/37 and 11D/8.
Remedy as necessary.

- Fuse 11C is in the passenger compartment.

Hint: After the repair it is necessary to check that the fault has been rectified.








- Ignition off.
- Connect connectors, install components, etc.
- Disconnect the starter motor connector.
- Try to start the engine with the gear lever in any position other than P or N.
- Connect the starter motor connector.
Check that diagnostic trouble code status changes from permanent to intermittent.





Is the diagnostic trouble code status intermittent?

Yes - VERIFIED

No - VERIFICATION FAILED

The fault should have been detected and remedied. As this is not the case fault-tracing has failed.
Exit fault-tracing for this diagnostic trouble code (DTC) or make another attempt.

Checking the relay








- Ignition off
- Reinstall the connectors, components etc.
- Ignition on.
Close the rear doors. Activate the child-proof lock using the switch.

Can the doors be opened from the inside?

Yes - Checking the signal cable

No - Checking the signal cable

- Ignition off.
Check the signal cables below for both the rear doors. Check for a short-circuit to supply voltage. Check for an open-circuit. Check for a short-circuit to ground.
- Between lock unit connector terminal #3 and the relay holder in the door, terminal #4
- Between the relay holder in the door, terminal #3 and rear electronic module (REM) relay position 2/115 terminal #3.
Remedy as necessary.

Checking the signal cable




- Ignition off.
Check the signal cables below for both the rear doors. Check for a short-circuit to supply voltage. Check for an open-circuit. Check for a short-circuit to ground.
- Between the relay holder in the door, terminal #2 and ground
- Between the relay holder in the door, terminal #1 and central electronic module (CEM) relay position 2/120 terminal #3.
Remedy as necessary.
