The following fault-tracing only applies to cars intended for the German market.

Checking the relay
Check the function of relay 2/83: Activate and deactivate the relay a number of times. The relay is functioning if there is a clicking sound when the relay is activated and deactivated.
Replace with a new relay if the relay does not function.

No - Checking components and wiring

Checking components and wiring
Check that shunt 20/29 is not damaged. The resistance between the terminal pins is 0 ohm to 5 ohms depending on which pin the reading is taken at.
Check the cable between relay 2/83 terminal #3 and the left and right lower lamp housing connectors terminal #3A. Check for an open-circuit. Check for a short-circuit to ground.
Check the cable between the left and right upper lamp housing connectors terminal #4A and the ground terminal for an open-circuit.
Check that fuse 11D/2 is intact.
Remedy as necessary.
