Parcel shelf loudspeakers

Note! Operations 1-6 apply to the S80. Operations 7-23 apply to the S60.

Preparations (applies only to the S80)




- Open the trunk lid.
- Pull the catches (1) on right and left-hand sides. Fold the backrests forwards.




- Remove the seat belt from the guide (1) on the right and left side cushions.
- Fold forward both backrests.




- Carefully lift the front edge of the parcel shelf panel until the clips (1) release.
- Lift up the panel further until the locating pins (2) release from their holes.
- Pull out the parcel shelf. Lay the parcel shelf on the folded backrests.




- Turn the parcel shelf panel upside down.
- Remove the insulation under the loudspeaker grilles.




- Remove the stamped panel under the loudspeaker grilles.

Installation and final tasks (applies only to the S80)




- Position the loudspeaker and the mountings (1) in the panel around the rectangular hole in the parcel shelf.
- Adjust the loudspeaker towards the two predrilled holes in the panel.
- Install the screws (2) (from the kit). Tighten the loudspeaker.
- Connect the loudspeaker to the pre-routed connector (3).
- Carry out the above procedure on the opposite side.
- Reinstall the parcel shelf panel.
- Reinstall the seat belts in the guides on the right and left hand side cushions.
- Fold the backrests back into position.

Preparations (applies only to the S60)




- Open the trunk lid.
- Pull the catches (1) on both sides of the backrests. Fold the backrests forwards.




- Fold both the rear backrests forward.
- Remove the seat belts from the guides (1).




- Remove the clip (1) at the side of the left-hand side cushion.
- Pull out the top edge of the left front panel in the cargo compartment to access the upper catch for the side cushion.
- Repeat the operation on the right-hand side.




- Remove the left-hand side cushion. First press in the catches (1) at the top edge of the reverse of the side cushion. Pull the cushion out slightly.
- Grasp the cushion using both hands. Twist counter-clockwise until the catches on the inside release.
- Remove the side cushion. First pull out the upper edge of the side cushion. Then pull upwards.
- Repeat the operation on the other side.




- Remove the cover and the screw for the left-hand C-post panel.
- Repeat the operation on the other side.




- Remove the rubber strip at the rear edge on the left-hand rear door frame
- Grasp the top edge of the C post panel. Pull (A) the panel inwards until the three clips (1) release.
- Then pull (B) the panel straight up. Place the panel to one side.
- Repeat the operation on the other side.




- Carefully lift the front edge of the parcel shelf panel until the clips (1) release.
- Lift up the panel further until the locating pins (2) release from their holes.
- Pull out the parcel shelf. Lay the parcel shelf on the folded backrests.

Applies to cars with loudspeaker grilles in the parcel shelf panel




- Turn the parcel shelf panel upside down.
- Remove the insulation under the loudspeaker grilles.

Applies to cars with loudspeaker grilles in the parcel shelf panel




- Remove the stamped panel under the loudspeaker grilles.

Applies to S60 without loudspeaker grilles in the parcel shelf panel




- Remove the seat cushion (1). First pull the front edge of the seat cushion up. Pull forwards. Then lift the seat cushion out.




- Remove the screw (1) in the lower seat belt mounting on the right and left-hand sides in the rear seat. There are new screws in the kit.




- Remove the screw (1) in the lower seat belt mounting in the centre of the rear seat. A new screw is included in the kit.




- Pry off the seat belt side pieces (A) from the parcel shelf panel. Use a weatherstrip tool.
- Insert the seat belt end mountings and side pieces through the holes in the parcel shelf panel (B).
- Remove the parcel shelf panel to make the holes.




- Remove the insulation panel from underneath the parcel shelf panel.
- Saw out the two embossed circles. Even off the edges.
- Scrape off any remains of the insulation panel to access the pre-embossed holes for the loudspeaker grille.
- Drill out the eight embossed holes for the loudspeaker grille using a - 7 mm (9/32") drill.
- Clean around the hole edges.
- Repeat the operation on the other side.




- Press the loudspeaker grille into the eight holes.




- Install the locking washer on the eight lugs for the loudspeaker grille. Counterhold the other side of the panel. Press the locking washers into place. Do not damage the loudspeaker grille when securing into place.
- Repeat the operation on the other side.

Installation and final tasks (applies only to the S60)




- Position the loudspeaker and the mountings (1) in the panel around the rectangular hole in the parcel shelf.
- Adjust the loudspeaker towards the two predrilled holes in the panel.
- Install the screws (2) from the kit. Tighten the loudspeaker.
- Connect the loudspeaker to the pre-routed connector.
- Carry out the above procedure on the opposite side.
- Thread the seat belts through the holes in the parcel shelf.
- Reinstall the parcel shelf panel.
- Tighten the seat belt end mountings using the new screws from the kit. Tighten to 50 Nm (37 lbf ft.).
- Reinstall the C-post panels
- Reinstall the side bolsters.
- Reinstall the seat cushion, if removed.
- Reinstall the seat belts in the guides on the right and left hand side cushions.
- Fold the backrests back into position.
