Description of Parameters, Quick Test of the Fuel Tank System
Description of parameters, quick test of the fuel tank system
Leak diagnostic unit pump
Graphic display in the fuel tank system quick test.
Measurement range 0-400 mA.
The engine control module (ECM) calculates the value from the pump in the leak diagnostic unit.
The value varies depending on the pressure in the fuel tank system. Higher pressure results in increased power consumption.
Battery voltage
Measurement range 0-17.95 V.
The value indicates the voltage from the system relay to the engine control module (ECM).
The voltage must not be below 11 V when the quick test of the fuel tank system is run.
Fuel tank system quick test
In order for the quick test to start, the status of this parameter must be: NOT COMPLETED.
- COMPLETED = The engine control module (ECM) has completed the quick test / diagnostic of the fuel tank system during the present operating cycle
- NOT COMPLETED = The engine control module (ECM) has not completed the quick test / diagnostic of the fuel tank system during the present operating cycle.
Test phase
In order for the quick test to start, the status of this parameter must be: NOT RUNNING.
The parameter indicates the phase of the test.
- REFERENCE 1 = Reference phase for leaks of 0.5 mm and function test of the leak diagnostic unit is running
- MAJOR LEAK = Diagnostic for major leaks is running
- MINOR LEAK = Diagnostic for minor leaks is running
- REFERENCE 2 = Reference phase for leaks and function test of the leak diagnostic unit is running. This phase is only run if leakage is detected in the MINOR LEAK or MAJOR LEAK test phase
- NOT RUNNING = No quick test or diagnostic is running.

Test phases Test Phases
Test results for the leak diagnostic unit
The parameter displays the result of the diagnostic for the function of the leak diagnostic unit. The diagnostic is run during test phase REFERENCE PHASE 1.
- NO FAULT FOUND = No fault is detected by the engine control module (ECM)
- FAULT FOUND, HIGH SIGNAL = Fault in the leak diagnostic unit detected by the engine control module (ECM). This fault status corresponds to diagnostic trouble code (DTC) ECM-431D, Signal too high
- FAULT FOUND, LOW SIGNAL = Fault in the leak diagnostic unit detected by the engine control module (ECM). This fault status corresponds to diagnostic trouble code (DTC) ECM-431D, Signal too low
- FAULT FOUND, FAULTY SIGNAL = Fault in the leak diagnostic unit detected by the engine control module (ECM). This fault status corresponds to diagnostic trouble code (DTC) ECM-431D, Faulty signal
- FAULT FOUND, SIGNAL MISSING= Fault in the leak diagnostic unit detected by the engine control module (ECM). This fault status corresponds to diagnostic trouble code (DTC) ECM-431D, Signal missing.
Test result, major leak
The parameter indicates the result of the diagnostic for leakage in the fuel tank system. This diagnostic is run during the MAJOR LEAK test phase.
- NO FAULT FOUND= No leak corresponding to the definition of major leak detected by the engine control module (ECM)
- FAULT FOUND= Leakage = >1 mm is detected by the engine control module (ECM). This fault status corresponds to diagnostic trouble code (DTC) ECM-404C.
Test result, minor leak
The parameter indicates the result of the diagnostic for leakage in the fuel tank system. This diagnostic is run during the MINOR LEAK test phase.
- NO FAULT FOUND= No leak corresponding to the definition of minor leak detected by the engine control module (ECM)
- FAULT FOUND= Leakage = >0.5 mm is detected by the engine control module (ECM). This fault status corresponds to diagnostic trouble code (DTC) ECM-400C.
