Test Phases, Quick Test Fuel Tank System

Test phases, quick test fuel tank system

REFERENCE
The reference phase for leaks and the function test of the leak diagnostic unit are running. If any faults are detected during this phase the major leak test starts. If a fault is detected during this phase, the test is interrupted and one of the parameters for fault status ECM-4310, ECM-431A, ECM-4320 or ECM-432A will be "FAULT FOUND".

Hint: The diagnostic trouble code (DTC) will not be stored in the engine control module (ECM) during the quick test. However the fault status "FAULT FOUND" corresponds to the diagnostic trouble code (DTC), if the fault is detected during normal diagnostics, that is, during run on when all the conditions have been met.

MAJOR LEAK
Leak diagnosis for major leaks is in progress. If leakage is detected during this phase the minor leak test starts. If leakage is detected during this phase (the pump's power consumption is the same as or lower than the desired value) the test is interrupted and the result for the fuel tank system major leak is "FAULT FOUND".

MINOR LEAK
Leak diagnosis for major leaks is in progress. If no leakage is detected during this phase the test stops and the test result for the fuel tank system will be "NO FAULT FOUND". If leakage is detected during this phase (the power consumption of the pump is equal to or lower than during the reference phase), the engine control module (ECM) will run a second reference phase. When this phase is run and no fault is detected on the leak diagnostic unit, the test result for a minor leak in the fuel tank system is "FAULT FOUND".

NOT RUNNING
The leak diagnostic is not running, the quick test of the fuel tank system has not started or has finished.
